There have been several issue situations with osCommerce installations, where the customer gets a non-working store. The issues are with stores installed from the Control Panel of the hosting account. Please keep in mind that the CP installations are not always working properly, so you should always create a test accountand make a test order to check the functionality.

The issues have mostly been happening with osCommerce installations on BlueHost servers, where they come with a built-in BuySafe module. It seems like this module is not properly installed, because an error occurs during checkout phase.

If you get such an installation, please take the defective file (e.g. checkout_process.php – it is mentioned in the error) from a default osCommerce installation and overwrite it. Thus the BuySafe module will no longer work, but you will at least get a working store. Since most people do not want a BuySafe module, this is okay, and if they do – the module is available for installation from the osCommerce site as an additional module.
